I watched a documentary on Anne Geddes recently and left it feeling so touched and just utterly inspired. I had no idea of the type of person she was. I remember having a calendar growing up years ago with those iconic baby pictures which were so delicate and precious you could not turn your eye.
The documentary follows Anne on a "New Beginning" a new source of inspiration and I was so very touched by it I had to share it with you all.
The images that threw my heart into a spin were the one above of the girl holding the baby (Maneesha and Gabriella) and the bottom picture of the pregnant cocooned woman.
Maneesha the girl holding the premature newborn was photographed by Anne as a newborn over 15 years ago and Anne asked her to come back to take part in a new photograph of another premature baby Gabriella. I found myself tearing up and clutching at my chest in the beauty of it all. The last picture was a part of two photographs but this one was significant in that the mother of the baby gave birth only to lose her a few hours later. You can see she is cocooned in a body stocking that resembles a butterfly and the mother now says a day never goes by without her seeing a butterfly go by her. Where are my kleenex!
